Very few cultures have mastered working with gold. The shiny yellow color usually overshadows anything you add to it. But the Thai culture seems to have mastered it.
Also, Thai architecture is very good with symmetry
The temples are guarded by some ferocious but adorable looking little stone gargoyle-like puppies
